Cr. Christine Jeffreys JP has a background in community development and human services. She has worked for over 16 years as a community development, youth work and commnity education before she made a career change towards environmental issues and became a Community Waste Education Officer in 2000.
Christine became a councillor in March 2003 at the last election. This is her first term as a councillor and stands on a platform of social justice and equity. She believes in sustainable development that also considers the impact on the social and ecological environment. She hase been a member of ALGWA since the first year she was elected and has since been a keen advocate for women in elected positions.

Deputy Mayor Canterbury City Council, Elected to Council in
September 1999, Elected to the ALGWA Executives March 2001.
I represent a very diverse multicultural City, and I'm a board and
Chairperson of many Committees, there's over 130 different languages spoken
in Canterbury City.
It has been a big challenge since I was elected to Local Government, being a
woman and of non English speaking background had even made prouder
representing who ever in need to be heard with anything they want to
address.

Organisation Orange City Council
Fiona was elected to Orange City Council in 2004. Even when questioned about having five children and running for election with all the commitments, Fiona and husband went on to have another child and are Foster Care parents. Fiona believes having children and staying in touch with your community proves beneficial in keeping you finger on the pulse and being aware of what is happening.
Fiona moved to Orange in 1991 and enjoys her career as a Registered Theatre Nurse and In Charge of shift at Orange Base Hospital. Fiona has a love for the environment and actively seeks out better pathways to save the environment. Fiona is know for the Fairy Sparkle Garden she initiated building with other community members for the children's ward garden at Orange Base Hospital. Fiona has also been active in Founding Orange Star Search a fundraiser over the past 3 years show casing local singers.
In Council Fiona chairs the Youth and Local Interagency, and particularly enjoys the outcome of chairing the Christmas Street Party. She was also Chair of the working party for the BMX track which brought about two tracks (1 competitive & 1 recreational) and a recreational play area for everyone to enjoy. Fiona has a particular interest in community services and enjoys the direct contact with people. She has been a member of ALGWA since 2004 and now as an executive member would like to see the representation of women in Local Government increased.

Elected to Council in 1995 my life experiences through travel and my Community Issues within our local government.
My support of public libraries is my priority as I see it has an emphasis on equity and equality and provides an opportunity for everyone to reach their potential.
In celebrating International Women's Day I have been instrumental in now having a collection of media on Women's Mentoring and issues to a value of $4000. I have also been an executive member of the NSW Mining Related Councils Association for ten years addressing state issues as well as local community issues of mining.

I was elected to Penrith City Council in March 2004. I was elected to ALGWA Executive in 2004.
My educational background is in Commerce with a major in Management and sub-major in Law and Employee Relations. My profession is in Industrial Relations.
I am passionate about advocating for greater participation of women in government at all levels but especially in local government. I would like to see more women councillors.
In particular I want to promote ALGWA to all and engage women who work on council to become involved and develop their skills.

I was employed by Parramatta City Council from 1991-1996 in the records department as the Legal Documents Officer and was elected as a staff representative for 5 years.
In 1997 I was appointed as a metropolitan organiser in the MEU whereby I represented local government employees in 7 of the largest councils in the metropolitan area of Sydney. In 1998 I was appointed as the MEU Child Care Organiser/Women's Officer.
I have had the pleasure of running two major campaigns for women in local government being "Paid Maternity Leave" & "Pay Equity".
I have represented local government employees on a number of bodies including:
- NSW Ombudsman Legislation
- NSW Children's Commission
- National Women's Consultative Committee
- Children Services ITAB
- Delegate to ALP Conference
- Delegate to ACTU Congress
- Bullying & Harrassment Task Force
My interests are playing and coaching women's soccer at an elite level.

Darriea was re-elected as President at the 2005 ALGWA (NSW) Conference held at Albury.
Darriea has been instrumental in the development of ALGWA (NSW) Strategic Plan. Darriea has been a Councillor with the Broken Hill City Council since 1995 and works in Population Health for the Far West Area Health Service.
Darriea has also been on the Department for Women's Advisory Group for the Hands Up for Women in Council Project and the 10 Point Plan project.
Darriea was also been appointed to the National Framework for Women in Local Government Coordination Group for NSW.
Darriea is committed to the advancement of all Women in Local Government.
