Wentworth Rural Women's Gathering Program and Registration 2010
Date: 29,30 & 31 October 2010
Venue: Wentworth Services Club.
The Women's Gatherings are an annual weekend event organised by local committees with support from the Rural Women's Network and its NSW Rural Women's Council.
The organising committee makes key decisions, develops a theme and the weekend program. Each Gathering reflects the unique culture, industry, tourism and environment of the host community.
Womens Gatherings are for ALL rural women including: farming women; Aboriginal women; women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; mining women; women in the fishing industry; women who live in regional cities, towns and villages; and coastal women.
Gatherings are now a well established annual state-wide community event for all rural women.

LGA NSW Conference Albury 2010 - Networking Breakfast
Date: Tuesday 26th October 2010
Time: 7-15am - 8-45am
Venue: Library Museum-Cnr Kiewa/Swift Streets.
Kellie Mills, guest, is a coach, mentor, a creative thinker and leader.
She is passionate about working with women. She is an exceptionally gifted trainer and motivates people to accept new behaviours in the workplace or organi- sation which allows them to own the outcomes.
Among many awards recognising her work, Kellie was named Woman of the Year in 2005 for the Port Macquarie electorate. She is currently writing a book to help empower women.

The Gunnedah Women's Forum
Date: 28th - 29th July, 2010
Venue: The Civic Gunnedah, NSW.
The Gunnedah Women's Forum will raise the awareness and inform the Local Govern- ment sector on the value and contribution of all women employed, elected and involved in Local Government.
Prompted by Gunnedah's strong association with the koala, the forum theme entitled ‘Shaking the Branches of Local Government' will seek to explore the challenges faced by women within Local Government and advocate notions of personal strength, going out on a limb, making one's presence felt and having a voice, climbing the branches of personal growth and also suggests a fresh approach or new perspective to tackling issues.
The forum will create a useful framework for wom- en wanting to gain practical knowledge and skills to advance their career in Local Government and to raise the awareness and educate key decision makers on the value and contribution of women in the workplace.

ALGWA National Executive Networking Breakfast

ALGA Delegates, members and friends are invited to join the ALGWA National Executive for a Networking Breakfast with Special Guest Parliamentary Secretary the Hon Maxine McKew MP
Maxine McKew is the Member for Bennelong and Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. She previously held the portfolio of Parliamentary Secretary for Early Childhood Education and Childcare.
Before making the switch to politics, Maxine spent thirty years as a broadcaster and print journalist. She is a Walkley and Logie award winner and through coverage of national and international events, earned a reputation as one of the country's most authoritative interviewers.

The Fourth Annual Women's Leadership Symposium

Every year the Australian Women's Leadership Symposium provides an unparalleled opportunity for hundreds of Australian women to gather together to explore contemporary leadership theory and observe current ‘best practice' examples.

ALGWA offers an annual scholarship of $500.00 to a female student whose tertiary studies relate to an area of local government. It is currently awarded to an eligible student of Armidale University. The aim is to encourage women to become involved in local government and to perpetuate the memory of Marjorie Propsting, a woman who was definitely a leader and role model for women making a career in local government, or becoming an elected member of council.
